Children’s Wedding Outfit Trend Predictions for 2022

Our research included analysing Google Autocomplete suggestions and our own sales data. Here’s what we found:

As Google Autocomplete suggestions are predicted based on “factors like popularity and freshness”, we started there to see which colours and styles are currently trending.

Flower girls

When it came to flower girl outfits, the top colour suggestions included:

Champagne
Purple
Wine
Peach
Gold
Green
Floral print
Coffee brown
Pastel tones
Lemon yellow

Interestingly, the more traditional choices of white and ivory did not feature in the AutoComplete suggestions. Neutrals – including champagne and coffee – proved popular, as well tones of red, purple, gold, green, and yellow, implying that bolder choices are now in vogue and expected to continue into 2022. When it came to styles, ‘princess’, ‘ballerina’, ‘fairy’, ‘tutu’, ‘boho’, ‘mermaid’ all featured in the suggestions.

Page boys

When it came to page boy outfits, the top colour suggestions included:

Sage green
Black
Green
Grey
Blue
Navy

Green was the standout colour for page boys – sage green in particular – with classic colours (black, navy, blue) continuing to be go-to choices for many. When it came to styles, ‘traditional’ styles (such as suits) stood out, with ‘shorts’, ‘braces’, and ‘bowties’ also featuring.

Sales Data

Looking at our internal sales data for our special occasion childrenswear category from Dec 2018 to now, the top shades overall included white, navy, blue, pink, and burgundy.

Traditional white took the top spot, with blue and pink following close behind. Deeper shades – including navy, burgundy, and olive – are also climbing in popularity.

Looking at the wider colour groups, whites and blues were the most popular overall.

Interestingly, pink was a popular colour choice for page boys. Looking at the wider colour groups, blues, pinks, and greys were the most popular overall, followed by whites and neutrals.

Trend Predictions for 2022

Based on our analysis, we have made some predictions into the next big wedding outfit trends for children in 2022:

Luxe neutrals – including white, ivory, gold, champagne, and camel
Prints – including florals for spring/summer, and tartan for autumn/winter
Gender role reversal – with flower girls wearing shades of blue and page boys wearing tones of pink
